The Housekeeper Tournament of Champions is a fast pace program is designed to bring attention and recognize the importance of the Housekeeping Departments ( & Room Attendants) to the industry. Also it is an opportunity for hotels to bring their staff together off property for some fun and team building.
The contest is typically held in the fall to allow staff who have worked together all season to pick their best members to compete and represent their properties. Teams consists of 4 staff members and one coach. The coach does not participate in the events. The events are scored by judges, typically composed of the association’s Allied Members.
A corporate sponsor related to the hospitality industry is secured and provides goody bags and treat for all participants.
Seven games are held, six of which are for fun and the Big Bed Make-off which challenges speed and skill of the room attendants at bed making.
Typically, the Pigeon Forge Hospitality Association opens the competition to all of Sevier County association’s lodging members. As many as 19 teams have participated from all lodging segments, Hotel, Condo and cabin rental companies.
Over $1,200 in cash prizes are awarded to first through 4th place team members at the event, with $100 per team member awarded for the first place team. Trophies and wall plaques for display in the winning team’s business are also presented with follow-up commemorative photos for each team member placing in the contest..
