The Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association (TnHTA), along with its partners at the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and the Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, is pleased to announce that he 2017 Tennessee Governor’s Conference on Hospitality and Tourism, the industry’s premier annual statewide conference, will be held October 4 – 6 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
“We are very excited to bring the Governor’s Conference to Gatlinburg this year,” said Darik Dawes, 2017 Chair of TnHTA, the organization that produces the annual conference. “Not only is Gatlinburg one of the state’s premier travel destinations and a great location for conferences and conventions, we thought it was important to support our friends and partners there following the wildfires of 2016 and to help spread the word that Gatlinburg and Sevier County are totally open for business!”
TnHTA President and CEO Greg Adkins continued with that thought: “We think the theme for this year’s conference, ‘Smoky Mountain Strong! Celebrating the Spirit of Our People and Our Industry’ speaks volumes about our belief in and support of the hospitality and tourism industry in the region and across the state.”
That sentiment was echoed by Kevin Triplett , Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Mark Adams, President and CEO of the Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, both of whom are partners with TnHTA in planning the conference.
“The Tennessee Tourism Governor’s Conference moves around the state each year and Gatlinburg was on the radar even before the tragic wildfires of late November,” Triplett said. “Once that occurred, the opportunity to host our conference there, bring visitors there and shine a light on one of our greatest destinations in Gatlinburg and Sevier County was an easy decision. Sevier County is open for business and has been. This is another way for us to bring attention to that fact in one of the most beautiful parts of our state.”
“Partnering with TnHTA and the State to bring the Governor’s Conference to Gatlinburg couldn’t come at a better time,” said Adams, “We are so glad conference attendees will see firsthand the exciting developments we have going on in 2017 and thankful they will continue to help us in spreading the message of visiting our area and seeing our beautiful Smokies.”
The annual conference brings together representatives from the state’s second largest industry for three days of networking, professional development, outstanding speakers and seminars on cutting-edge industry topics and trends, the Tennessee Tourism EXPO and Tennessee Food & Lodging tradeshows, and great social events and opportunities to explore the local area. Also included in the conference schedule are the annual TnHTA PAC Golf Tournament and the TnHTA Stars of the Industry Awards Gala.
Information on and registration for the event will be available soon on the conference website at www.tngovcon17.com.
